Cost for full brake job?

The price quoted was their way of saying "we're not interested" in the job. Maybe they're 150% booked, maybe they're short-staffed... Who knows. I'm confident it's not a real price though, just a "go away" price. Guarantee you this though, if the customer agreed to the price, they'd take the job !!
Its a "go away" price and if its an ok from the customer, its a "OMG, big money payday"

I've seen this done to a few women I've worked with before.. $3200 from work at a Midas shop. They told her every suspension part was worn, every fluids, every brake component was bad also. And she just accepted it and without asking anyone she had it done.

Last quote I got from my INDY was $430 for my Lucerne. That was $100 to turn all four rotors and $200 for ceramic pads and two hours labor. That was a year ago when he told me I had a few thousand miles left before it needed done, be interesting to see how much more it will be since I know it has to be done soon with the way prices have gone up since then.

Brake jobs are gravy, can't imagine a shop not wanting one.

Brake jobs for most vehicles are now $500/axle at many shops. Trucks and large SUVs could be more.

My brother is a "contractor". He started doing any type of construction work, from drywall, painting, roofing, renovations, etc. Now he does $50k kitchen remodels, $20k bathrooms, builds homes, etc but people still contact him on occasion to do a roofing job. He doesn't want to do them and tries to steer them to someone he trusts but will get "I really would like to hire you..." so he throws out a number that's 2x the going rate. He said if they'll pay it, he'll do a roof job !

I've also had family receive quotes for front brakes pads and rotor's replacements on the front close to $600. And that's using the low price parts.. Its getting ridiculous out there!!

So my wife’s friend had the shimmy associated with warped rotors and took it to a shop, they quoted $2,000 for a ”full brake job” I bought all new pads, rotors, and drums and did a brake bleed, it’s a Nissan versa so nothing fancy. Did it for a bit over $200. Is such a high charge the norm for a full brake job or were they just trying to scam a lady who knows nothing about cars out of a lot of money? The brakes are working great now so I cant imagine what else they wanted to do.
Nissan in San Diego wanted $400 for tie rod end (just part) for my wife's Sentra. Mind you tie rod end for example for BMW M5 is $256 in the dealership.

I had Toyota dealership trying to sell me donut spare tire for $305 (Dunlop). I told them I paid $135 for a donut spare for BMW X5 in the dealership also Dunlop. Guy told me: yes, but this is Toyota :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Discount tire gladly sold me Kumho spare for $90.

Your brother has a good thing going for sure. Does he have a crew?

I'm guessing your zip code has an effect on the price.. If BMW charges less, you can surely know you were getting boned. Did that estimate include a super special dealership $180 all wheel alignment?

That's near the going rate.

I am very familiar with BMW prices, and yes, that is the price for tie rod end on 2015 M5 and yes, $400 was the price for Sentra.
Actually, Lemforder tie rod end (OE supplier for BMW) is $76 online. But, nothing matches quality of Sentra.

My local mechanic i paid $275 for fronts new pads, rotors and calipers
That's pretty amazing. I've been pricing brake parts for some upcoming work, and the fronts done the way you've described, would be just a bit north of that for parts alone at Rock Auto. I looked at mid-range prices for all components, but even with lower-priced components, I came reasonably close to your number. And then there's labor ...

The OEM tire rod on my 750i cost me, from what I remember, $370 at the dealer. Declined $200 Alignment, tires were trashed anyway. If it wasn't 20f outside I would have done it myself, but I don't do winter very well.
Called the local Indy shop, two months wait. My local guy wouldn't touch BMW's he hates them that much.
I saw the parts on pelican and would have waited, but it was shot.
