It amazing how that everything you mentioned has become a totally disposable item today. (Or else is completely outdated). When I was growing up, a new television was an "investment" of sorts for most families. Most people knew the TV repairman on a first name basis, who made house calls.

Obviously I wasn't very good at picking career paths, and exactly why I now work as a data analyst.

My wife retired the end of 2025. I'm only working now to keep insurance for the two of us until she's eligible for Medicare in May 2027. It helps that I like my current job and get to take trips to London on their dime, as that's from where my company is based.
