I put the 24’ 790 Adventure up on the stand today and did a complete brake fluid flush and changed the front rotors and pads and changed the rear pads. I kept the OEM rear disk for now. The Bike turns 2 years old in 60 days so it was time for the brake fluid swap.

I decided to try the TARAZON wave disks on the front as the OEM Galfers were warped up at just 15.5K miles.

I’m impressed with the quality of the TARAZON Disks at first glance. They look and feel premium. Time will tell on how long they last. At $130 a pair they are certainly “affordable”, especially compared to new OEM Galfers at nearly double per rotor.

I’m heading out to do another 6K mile trip next month on the bike so I’ll put them to the test and update the thread.

Initial impressions after a “bed in session” is that they are true, and have a lot of feel paired with Tusk Pads and new Motul DOT 5.1 Fluid. They are strong but linear when hard on the brakes, with NO harsh initial bite, but they have feedback immediately.

The OEM Pads, Disk, and Fluid setup were very very soft and mushy on the initial bite and didn’t react well until you were gripping it with the force of a gorilla. That was the case even after bleeding them at the 600mi service. I’ve never cared for the brakes until now.

I’m elated at the brake feel and performance from these rotors, tusk pads, and Motul DOT 5.1 Fluid.

I’m curious to see how well they do over the next several thousand miles.

My experience with Chinese brake stuff was great on my ninja 250. I had a rotor similar to yours, it was just a one-piece, and all 4 brake pads cost me $12! Used them for just under 15k miles until I traded it in. Good progressive bite that was confidence-inspiring at full pull. The only downside is they liked to be warmed up a little bit, which meant just a couple light pulls when I started off. They also lasted me about 5k miles/set, which is just fine for $12!

Thanks for the write-up!
