Corolla 2010 electric power steering

My steering is just very slightly tight when turning.

Is this an indication that the electric steering rack is going?

I'm ready to do the job if it is, but I am still not certain if it is even a problem.

Also, what's your opinion on electric steering in general? It seems like these 2010 generation Corollas have a lot of issues with that.

It is often the u-joint or splined slider in the steering shaft from the steering wheel to the rack that gets tight and binds on many vehicles. Check it first.

I'll take EPS over hydraulic any day. No PS fluid leaks. No hoses to leak or break. No PS pump to leak, make noise or wear out. No PS belt.

Electric gives you that free workout when you're trying to wrestle it in or out of a spot & assist dies (my Transit does it occasionally). Not really as issue with hydraulic PS.

The MGM in my sig occasionally gets a little stiff-a good shot of spray white lithium on the U-joints seems to loosen it up again (for a couple years).
