Cops not prosecuted for gunning down hobo, riots

So you are saying if they had used 2 bullets to kill him it would have been okay but 30 or 46 (whichever one it is) was wrong? I got it!

Let me restate my position more clearly.

There are cops out there doing a much better job, disarming such potential threats without this sort of fanfare. Kudos to them for keeping our neighborhoods safe without resorting to such dramatic and dangerous actions. Those cops are not and should not be irked by my statements.

Rather the ones who were involved in this execution, or the ones that support them are the ones against whom my comments are directed. Their behavior is much like they were on a hunting safari in central Africa. Maybe these bunch just got back from one such trip and they just reacted as if this person was a charging Rhino.

No I don't get it - I can't believe you are that incredibly thick! Your last paragraph just astounds me.

These cops didn't just pull up and start shooting at this "poor helpless hobo" that you are making him out to be (in my view the fact that he might have been a hobo is irrelevant).

He was threatening the police AND THE PUBLIC with a deadly weapon. They tried to get him to surrender. He refused. They did NOT, I repeat NOT execute him. He was given every chance. Had he dropped the knife we would NOT have even heard about this story. But he refused to obey authority. HE and he alone escalated the situation. If you can't understand that - then I actually feel sorry for you.

I sincerely hope nobody ever threatens you with a knife and then you have ignorant people second guessing you.

Molakule hit the nail on the head. "It is apparent you are anti-law enforcement and know little about law enforcement training . . . "

I notice chik purposely chooses to use inflammatory language to make totally ridiculous comparisons.

First it's the comparison of police to Ghetto gangbangers and now he infers the police are on a Safari.

I think what chiks wants is a set of the rules of engagement for every situation a law enforcement person may confront.

For example in police training, a chiks rule would be such that when confronted with a drunk with a knife, one only tasers. Another chiks rule would be such that when confronted with an irate husband with a gun, after police show up in a domestic violence call, you call a psychiatrist out to the scene to determine if the husband was beaten by his father.

However, these scenarios are neither safe nor logical, because different types of people may act differently in each situation.

These liberal, progressive law enforcment ideas don't work, and has adversely affected our whole system of jurisprudence.

1) if you miss

2) if you hit something that deflected the bullets (i.e. a flask or a phone), and he got angry and charge at you.

They are not argumentum ad hominem, they are potential scenarios based on chiks statements.

Please, go rent a cop costume, get yourself a cap gun and then find a homicidal hobo with a big knife and try to make him drop it. If you make it back to tell us about it (not likely) then perhaps your view on the subject would hold a bit more weight. Until that point, it is just tough guy with a keyboard talk about a job they've never done and how "easy" it is.

Why would he need a gun? He isn't going to use it.

I don't see why they wouldn't have just shot the guy in the leg far before he attacked them? Why they didn't shoot him after he made a move who knows... Keystone cops I guess.
One cop is designated to make the non-lethal shot and the others be ready to make lethal shots if the bad guy charges, especially with rifles, no one is going to stand up for more than 2 shots to the centre of mass...
Also in the original video, why not a have a 10 gauge bean bag gun in the trunk of the car for non/less-lethal take downs? Delivering 2000+ft-lbs of energy at 60ft would make the cops safe and knock a person senseless.
