The Avon Tire facility in Melksham, England will close by the end of 2023. They announced this last October, shortly after Goodyear bought Cooper.

Avon is (was?) a big player in certain racing markets....but that probably isn't where the profits are. Sad to hear.

Under Cooper, Avon tried the US market in the late 2000's and their two tires were decent for their price range. I had their Tech M500's on a 911, good tire.

I purchased some Avon motorcycle tires last year. Some highly regarded their bias touring tires. Roadrider II's They've evidently became NLA almost immediately after Goodyear took Cooper. Not sure how long Cooper had Avon. Way back in the early to mid 1980's I purchased Avon auto tires on several occasions. Just standard tires that were sort of all-season. They seemed to be high quality in every way and were very reasonably priced. The primary way to get them was to mail or phone order to the importer in Baltimore.
