This was parked out in front of the local good mexican restaurant I ate lunch at today. It had a good looking passenger!

It looks like a midgety pigman with a giant cauliflower ear?

You were asking Tom Slick! So yes, I was the wrong Tom in this case.

My neighbor has got one of these with a soft top... Will post photos later...

Those Volvos are very similar to the Pinzgauer. Please do post those pictures.

The hard-top is fiberglass. Corrosion doesn't look too bad considering it's 40 years old (or more) and has been stored outside the last 3-4 years...

I was really impressed by the Pinzgauer climbing that rock ledge. You really need the right combination of wheelbase, clearance and carburation to get up an obstacle like that.

My Bronco trail vehicle couldn't do that, even if the carburator didn't flood on the way up (a mass-air efi system is in the long-term plans). In any case, its short wheelbase is just wrong for that obstacle.

Thanks to Mori for posting so much information about these capable vehicles, they are all really interesting to see!

Here is my modest trail vehicle:

The Pinzgauer, Volvo C303, Unimog and the Hummvee are equipped with portal axles, which offer increased ground clearance while allowing smaller differentials.

They really need to design a vehicle that can do something like this: kid goat

PS: I like those old Broncos (and Internationals).

I have two req'ts for an off road vehicle.
You can't be afraid to scratch it.
It's easy to dig out when you get stuck.
I've driven a Pinzgauer and they are better than my driving.
