Connecting a Natural Gas Grill

*The black post is a post the old grill sat over which contains the gas pipe come from the ground as shown above. It's separate from the grill.
 
I just realised your first photo is sideways and, in fact, you have the coupler horizontal, the way it should be.

That is tubing, not pipe. Is that stainless steel? I have never seen carbon steel tubing used for gas. It corrodes too easily.

Get that coupler securely clamped down , no matter what it takes. If you have to bolt a pressure treated 2x4 to the post, do it. You can then clamp the coupler on to the 2x4.
