The last couple of days I've experienced a buzzing sound like a PO'ed bee comming from the screen..a couple of wavelet lines will appear..this last about 3 seconds..it happens about twice a hour...what's up...Thanks

Monitor may be on the way out. How old is it? Next time it happens, jiggle the monitor cable in a few different places and see if it affects the buzzing and if it does, the cable itself is bad.

Yep ..good call..it's only 2 years old (DELL)..it hasen't acted up this AM yet..but when it does ...I'll be ready..if I need to replace it what would you suggest I replace it with?? Thanks

Dell Monitors are low bid trash (even Sony). Ask me how I know.

I will say this - they (Dell) are good about replacements (even sometimes after warranty). My neighbor is on her third, within warranty.

Skunky, from your description, it sounds like the monitor is DeGaussing itself. I'm assuming this is not an LCD monitor, correct? You could try to bring up the built-in menu on the monitor and select the DeGauss function. See if it makes the same noise. I've never seen a monitor spontaneously DeGauss, but you never know. If I'm right, that would be a warranty issue as it's not supposed to do that.

BTW, DeGaussing removes stray magnetic fields, which would affect the picture, from a CRT screen. You normally hear a buzz and see the picture skew funny when doing a DeGauss.
