Comparative OCI's

So I've noticed that some people on this forum do run Mobil 1 Extended Performance up to 15k. I read up on the warranty and Mobil do however recommend that you follow the manufacturer's oci for severe service.

So it is fair to say that Mobil 1 Extended Performance for non severe service will get you to 15k. (Which means for some cars that are "gentle" on oil, it would go longer)

In any case, what I am trying to do is build up a comparative list of where the major oils would go in exactly the same circumstances as Mobil 1 Extended Performance's 15k. So here is my initial shot. Thoughts?

Mobil 1 Extended Performance - 15k
M1 - 10k (on the basis that EP has 50% more synstuff than regular)
PP - 10k
PU - 15k?
PYB - 7.5k?
QSS - 10k
Synpower - 10k
QSBlend - 7.5k
MCBlend - 7.5k
Edge - 15k
Syntec - 10k
Syntec blend - 7.5k

Would you agree that in regular retail outlets there are 4 types of oil available with the following oci's in favorable driving conditions?

1) Premium Synthetic - 15k
2) Regular Synthetic - 10k
3) Synthetic Blend & Premium Dino - 7.5k
4) Good Dino - 5k

If the standard for comparison is Mobil 1 Extended Performance useful life:

AMSOIL Signature Series - 35K
Schaeffer's 9000 - 15K
Valvoline conventional - 6K
Redline - 20K

I think you are way off on the AMSOIL Signature Series. It might go 15-20K under conditions like type of service, Oil filter change, type of engine. Also Redline is more like 8-10K. And Schaefers 9000 is about 10K.

I do have a friend doing 15K with Mobil 1 5w30 Extended Performance in a 03 Windstar, with no problems. 120K on the engine.

I called Mobil tech today and they said the EP oils in normal service for my Duratechs will do 15K and well beyond that with no problems. I may run my engines to 250-300K or further and he said even at that mileage my engines will be fine. Let the bashing begin.

Makes sense to me. An oil designed for 15k in any engine in normal service will last longer in a more modern engine that is known to be gentle on oil. I'm sure if you mentioned you had an Audi 2.0T then the answer may have been different.

You are right about the Audi, I guess. I like Fords as their engines have lasted very well for me.
Try calling Mobil tech and ask about the Audi. Would be interesting.

What do you mean by premium dino vs good dino? Like as in supertech oil for 5k and something like Castrol GTX or Pennzoil conventional for 7500?
