Hey fellow BITOG members! I last posted here about picking up Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w-30 and using it in my Fiesta ST. A few days ago, I got an E30 tune (30% E85/70% 91oct). Looking for some expert info on ethanol blends with this oil. While I understand that ethanol dilutes oil much faster than regular gas due to the stoichiometric A/F ratio being 12.8/1 vs 14.7/1 is Mobil 1 Extended Performance a good oil for ethanol blend fuels? I’d most likely be changing my oil every 3k anyway. Or are there any other oils that would do a better job with my application. TIA

This is what I'd recommend

ESP every 3k will work just fine. Don’t over think this.

Lol. Adam you know me, I overthink a lot of things. I figured it’d be fine.
You’re good bro. You’re on the right track. Have your oil analyzed for fuel content and you’ll know what works and what doesn’t

The esp 0w30 is one of the best off the shelf oils. It’ll work perfectly fine

most any 5w-30 oils like Valvoline Restore and Protect ,Pennzoil Ultra ,Castrol EP etc would work just fine, as long as you keep up on your oil and filter change outs, and run some fuel cleaner/injector couple of times a year ,Techron is a good one and 12 oz bottles are on sale through this month at NAPA for $5.49.

I know nothing much about Racing oil but IF I recall I have seen post / info online about racing oil from I think DRIVEN and perhaps Penn Grade 1 that do well with Methanol Fuel engines, How that would or would not translate to Ethanol beats me?

My Old Crown Vic was a flex fuel car and could run 85% ethanol, never remember anything suggesting changing oil brands etc so who knows?

I think you're fine too.

It will be interesting if you send oil for analysis after 3,000 miles, so we can see how the ESP performed in 30% ethanol environment and is there fuel in the oil.

I’ll definitely get a used oil analysis for it. Gonna get one for my current OCI as well. I’m at around 2500 miles on this OCI with Castrol edge 5w30. 100 of those miles so far being ethanol. I’ll change it in the next 500-1000 miles
