How does this help DI engines exactly? It says it does. This stuff isn't touching intake valves, so...?

It cleans the Direct injector tips and some engines use valve overlap to allow some fuel to get onto the exhaust valves.
I think Mazda does and may7be hyundai/Kia.

The LS400 had 7-Eleven Premium from the time I took delivery at 37,536 until it was totaled at 99,979 (62,443 total). I would estimate that less than 10-15 tankfuls were at a different "brand fueling station.
