Colorado or Canyon?

58k? Gawd, I'm old. I paid right around $15k for my son's new stripper 2005 Colorado.

Get off my lawn!
Me too. I wrote a check for $18k even for an '05 Canyon 4wd

But I paid for $46k for my JLUR in 2019, so I'm not that far behind the times ;)

After looking at Colorados, Canyon’s and the like, for a few dollars more I can get a 1500 with a V8.
Then, if I’m spending more, I might as well get an HD that I can grease the steering, doesn’t have stop/start, cylinder dropping and comes with the tires I’d put on a 1500.
If I’m spending extra money for a full size HD, might as well spend a couple thousand more for the 3500.
I’m a climate change fanboy. DJT said that with rising sea levels we’ll have more beach front property.

One of TFL guys owns a Colorado Trail Boss, which has had several issues. It also doesn't have cruise control. My advice is to do your research as to whether the issues have been resolved.

Man, I swear all of these modern trucks have their own issues. Buying a new truck ya gotta go for the lesser of them all

I think the days of trucks being overbuilt are over. In the past it seemed like the manufacturers took pride in building tough long lasting trucks. Now days they are built "just good enough" and this isn't good enough for guys pushing trucks as hard as they used to. A lot of the issues seem to be associated with the proliferation of electric everything. Electronics and trucks don't seem to mix well in many applications.

at todays OVERPRICING + issues with new tech there will be NO new rides for me. i hate 4 doors + NO manual + not to mention too SMALL box, i bought my preowned 11 SV fronty extended cab with a manual + a decent box to use as a TRUCK!!! those with the $$$$ buy what you want + enjoy it as many like myself are priced out of a new spendy pickup, go preowned is my choice as nothing is made that i like.

Well - I also bought my son a 2005 Colly I5 air n mulch hauler …
(I could of had a V8 - and did😉)
But, serious on/off road units are just expensive these days …
My buddy just bought the 1500 ZR2 Bison - that 6.2L/10S is just plain sweet delivery …
He pulls any one of his 3 Jeep JL/JT/JLU Rubicons - that’s good stuff if you can afford it …

I've had 2 Canyons and 2 Colorados. Identical. Best thing to do is to use their websites and do a built and price for each make. There may be some options that are in different packages for each truck. I believe the Canyon now has a more powerful standard engine.

I'd make sure to get the premium (used to be Bose) sound package. The sound quality is not so great without that package.

In the Houston market - I’m finding the Trail Boss very tempting for the price - but with below power train mileage and about to mount 315’s on my JLU - gonna live vicariously off others …

GM’s navigation by Google is outstanding …
I love my Jeep - but even after an expensive upgrade - it can’t find the barn on a 5 acre farm …

An OTA software update drained the battery, which has been resolved. Had a glitch where the screen blanked out. Software updates may have fixed that issue. Haven't seen it reappear.
As for the cruise control, Andre assumed it was standard, but it wasn't. He was chasing lowest price and the salesrep didn't know the product enough to see if it matched Andre's needs. Not the truck's fault.
I believe it was made standard for TB trim for 2024, but don't quote me on it.

I don't follow TFL that closely, but I watched a video wherein his back-up camera was not working, after numerous trips to the dealer, to replace the camera, headunit, etc. Maybe it's fixed by now...

I can think of vehicles I've owned for many years, with no issues at all. I wouldn't be terribly impressed if I owned his truck.

A 40k+ plus midsize truck which doesn't have cruise control standard, is just stupid.

The "internet sales" guy keeps repeating garbage like this:

"
When it comes to dealer trade, we are trading a vehicle which we don't own, so your best price is the MSRP.

You will get a dealer discount for our in-stock unit."

and

"
When you custom order a new 24 GMC Canyon, you will pay the MSRP.

However, if you buy what we have in stock (since we already own it), you will certainly get some dealer discount since there is no GM rebate at all on the AT4 or AT4X."

Looking at this one now:

I work at a new car dealership.
Advertised incentives from factory are changed monthly (usually), which the dealer will pass along as it (usually) doesn't cost the dealership anything. It does help to shop last few days of the month as dealers will discount more to get the sale (on in-stock cars).
Next level of discount is what dealership pays for a vehicle vs. the sticker price. Typically there is 10 - 15% margin. They can reduce the price to what they pay and just make money off factory volume rebates and products they sell you such as extended warranty , gap insurance, etc.
All depends on how much that dealership needs or wants your business.
If you're not happy with their response, I suggest increasing your search area until you find a dealer that will give reasonable answers.
