Y'all:

Relaxing during the Memorial Day weekend. Washed the Passat yesterday and put Collinite 845 on it this morning. Besides the wash, no paint prep was necessary. As an aside the car has H&R OE Sport springs, Bilstein B6s, 19x8 BBS SXs, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.

FWIW,

Scott

Beautiful!

Collinite 845 has been my recent go-to sealant! I apply it with my DA, super easy on and off!

I thought 845 was a wax, not a sealant.

Regardless, that’s a perfect paint color to “reflect” nice detailing work using a quality product.

There's so many terms out there, yea it is indeed called "insulator wax" but something that last as long as it does I wind up calling it a "sealant." Not the correct term, but I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

How long do you find the 845 lasting - - how many months?

I haven't found anything that lasts months. Weeks maybe, but not months. Except for our Honda, our cars are garaged. And with my wife and I retired the cars aren't used for commuting. They have an easy life.

But even being kept like this I find that every sealant, wax, etc., loses most of its water beading properties after just 3 or 4 washes.

One reason I use Collinite 845 is because it's so easy to apply and remove. I use it on the nose and mirror caps of all our cars after every wash. It takes just 5 minutes and is time well spent. Sometimes I don't even wait for it to haze over before wiping it off. Doing this helps keep the bugs from embedding themselves and makes the next wash easier.

Also too, sometimes I'll slap a quick coat of 845 on the horizontal surfaces. It takes 5 minutes to apply, wait 15 for it to haze, then another 5 minutes to wipe off. Easy smeasy. When you wash it next time, wax one side of the car. Takes 10 minutes. Rotate your way around after each wash to keep it fresh.

Scott

Agreed. When you run out of Collinite, I would strongly consider Meguiar's M27. When done properly, most of the applied product just vanishes. Wipe off is even easier than 845.
