Cabin filter will need replacing soon enough.

When I had a VW I simply mail ordered just about everything. Oil changes included. If I were to own another one, I'd probably do the same, there are things that you can plan on having to do, and can figure out best price or best performance.

That's what I do.
FCP Euro has everything needed for regular maintenance. Filters are reasonably priced. They stock several brands.
I paid about $30 for a cabin air filter and engine air filter. Both were German made Mann filters. The cabin air filter has activated charcoal.

My Passat speaks German, but with a Mexican accent. Fram cabin air filter installed was Hecho in Mexico .

I also have a Mexican Spanish speaking VW.
