Cognitive dissonance

I recently performed a ton of midlife maintenance on a VW, and ended up grumbling because I could only get a Fram cabin air filter. It’s not easy for me to install brands other than Bosch, Hengst, Mann, Liqui Moly and so on on a German branded sled. I recognize that Fram may be a German name, but it’s not the same.

I get it but it’s a cabin filter and it’ll be due in a year or so for replacement. I try and use Nissan oems filter myself but had to go with some Chinese hepa filter because the reviews stated it choked down their AC, which I needed. Her 2024 Altima for some reason blasts like a window AC is installed in the dash. I wanted a Bosch hepa but it wasn’t available.

When a neighbor's Toyota thermostat fritzed (another German word?), a pal sighed, "Looks like we have to go to Advance".
I corrected him. You should say, "Ohh snap, we have to go to Advance".
And yes, the AAP stat didn't operate well...it bound upon opening.

Actually, that wasn't cognitive dissonance.
That was pure frustration as the neighbor and my pal CANNOT get their heads into "scheduled maintenance" mode.

So do you only run Continental AG tires on the VW? Are Michelins and Pirellis verboten?

The Fram will work just fine for your cabin air filter. You are getting overly hung up on brands.

I think any cabin filter is fine as long as it fits. But, good luck trying to install aftermarket HEPA filters in some Nissan/Infinitis... you have to scrunch up the filter to get it installed and the thicker/heavier filters are pretty much impossible to get in there!
