About to do a timing set service and have noticed some mixed reviews about the Cloyes brand of timing components. What was once the top dog company now seems to be succumbing to the lure of Chinese manufacturing. Is this true? I paid about $150 more for a Cloyes kit than what I could have bought a "SMP" kit for because I thought I was buying quality.. I hope I still am?

What kind of car is this? If it's a Japanese car with a timing belt, get the Aisin kit

Cloyes I have had good luck with each time I have used them. I haven’t heard anything about them moving to China for production but it is possible. They have always been good quality parts.
curious, how many miles on the Durango?
I know some are and am told others are still made in the USA, if in doubt bite the $$ bullet and go OE.
Notice this piece of crap (is is nothing like OE quality) is still in the box, it will be tossed in the trash as it cost more to return that it cost.
I certainly can't speak to your Mopar, but I have done a lot of research on the 4.0 Fords like is in my old Explorer. They have A LOT of timing chain issues. Pretty much everyone without exception says that for that motor you have to get OEM parts, the Cloyes (or any other brand for that matter) do not last at all.

My personal experience with a Cloyes timing belt suggests that I should avoid buying any of their products.
