clopay ez set extension spring system question

We have a Clopay garage door about 15 years old. I noticed one of the lift cables became frayed 2-4 starnds of the cable missing. It has the EZ-Set extension spring system. I have searched and cant find to much info. Can I just replace the cable from the winding unit. Can I buy a new winding unit. I searched but cant seem to find out much if any info. Doesn't look like the cable is a separately replaceable part - Clopay only sells complete units.
