Civic stalls a bit at a stop

2013 Civic LX 1.8L in my sig

The civic has stalled three in the last two months at a complete stop. Not completely stalled out to be restarted, but stalled as if it were going to shutdown. It immediately runs fine after about two seconds of a rough idle and im just trying to nip this before it gets worse because i have a 108 mile round trip drive to and from work and i dont want to be stranded on the interstate. The first time it happened, i was at a gas station and after pumping gas my wife started the car to get the a/c going again and she said while i was inside the store, it felt like it was stalling and lasted for about the two second time frame. The second time, i was stopped at an intersection leaving work and while waiting for the light to change, it stalled a bit for the same amount of time. The third and most recent time it happened yesterday on my way to work at another intersection while waiting for the light to change again for about the two second time frame.

It runs fine while accelerating and it does not throw a code of any kind. I checked the plugs yesterday and they were fine and cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner and a brush. I am going to stop and pick up a can of mass airflow sensor cleaner and give that a whirl.

Ive been told it may be the EGR valve and/or the idle air control valve. What do you guys think?

it probably doesn't have an idle air control valve since it's pretty new, but i don't know much about honda and i'm too lazy to google it. i would have said cleaning the throttle body but you already did that

On the older (2.0 liter) CR-Vs, this was a warning sign that you had tight valves. Don't know if the 1.8 has trouble with valves getting out of adjustment, but on the B20 they would tighten up and burn. How many miles?

Sound like IAC (as mentioned), or if this engine doesn't have one (also mentioned) replacing the electronic throttle body - assuming it has one - will likely fix the issue, or possibly cleaning - never tried that successfully.

Can be an issue with fuel relays. Because they are part of the start / run / idle computer loops, they can also be a cause of idle stalling or near-stalling.

Find out where they are, and if there is more than one.

If it's underhood you might not hear them but sometimes you can hear a click when it stall/hesitates or recovers, which is an indicator.

The back of the throttle plate needs to be cleaned also and sometimes the t-body needs a second cleaning. Don't use carb cleaner it can harm the t-body. CRC t-body cleaner will work. Might just have the Honda dealer do a t-body cleaning.

Walmart TLE does a good fuel system cleaning for $20 or $10 if you have it done with an oil change.

Throttle bodies and MAF sensors really deserve a dedicated cleaner like those from CRC. the reason being some have a coating on them, you cant see it but if its gone you will get sticking throttle and all sorts of happiness.
Carb cleaner is great for cleaning intake runners off the engine and things like that.

We had a 1999 Civic and IAC valve was clogged with grime and caused stalls when slowing to a stop.

Cleaned the mesh screen on IAC valve and problem solved, the car had 150K miles back then. Throttle body was clean as a whistle, yet IAC valve was almost clogged.

MAF also builds up road grime. They sell cleaner at any auto parts store.
