The is a new '13 model we're talking about right?

Don't new Chryslers have lifetime powertrain warranties? Personally, I'd pass on extended warranties, expensive, probably unnecessary and muddys up the waters during negotiations.

I think you're getting tangled up in the weeds here with this warranty business.

If reliability is that much of a concern perhaps you should be looking at something else.

The lifetime PowerTrain warranty ended in 2009/2010, otherwise, I wouldn't be concerned.

I'm worried about the reliability of this compared the Corolla, which I am led to believe is one of the best cars for reliability.

Basically, the final numbers put the difference at $9200 with tax (no warranty), 11,700 with tax (with warranty). I don't know if I am getting enough of an upgrade in car to justify that kind of money.

I think the reliability on the 200 is fine. Only you can decide if it is worth the difference.

I would pass on the extended warranty. It already has a 5 year/100k powertrain warranty. Set the $2500 aside. There is NO WAY you will have that much in repairs. That is just way too much money for a warranty.

I am passing on the deal.

After numbers kept getting changed around, I had a sales manager and a GM YELLING at me on the phone. (Sorry I didn't accept your deal the first time I was there, I need time to decide). The GM called back and we had a better conversation, but I am FAR too scarred from this whole experience to do business.

I could do without another 9k in debt, I treated myself to two new hubcaps (mine were scratched), OEM all weather floor mats, and I'm getting a trunk scratch fixed, saves a lot of money...

Maybe I'll look into the aftermarket NAV for my car at some point. There are apparently ones for the Corolla that match style, color and all.

Good for you, these guys had you lined up for a huge payday for them. Anytime numbers keep changing it is time to head for the border.

I understand Chrysler/Dodge dealers had reputation for treating customers poorly. Their tactics haven't seemed to change much.

Sounds like you're a serious buyer with good credit, not some tire kicker. I
would've been out of there the minute they started pulling that business on me.

Perhaps wait until the end of the year when they clearance the '13's to make room for the new models.

Good for you. You are the customer. If they are treating you this way prior to the sale, imagine what kind of treatment you would get after the sale.

We bought a new Mercury Villager in 1998. The first dealer we went to attempted to treat me this way over the phone. After I merely suggested a tender orifice in his body that perchance he could park his vehicle , I hung up on the jerk.

Went to the next dealer, was treated well, and got a much better deal. Not being a brand hater, but in this case you have the better vehicle. Enjoy it and save your cash.

So THANK YOU for pointing out there is a Chrysler warranty (I did not know such a thing existed, I'm new to this).

I am going to ask tomorrow to get the lifetime Chrysler warranty for that price, or otherwise, I'm going to walk on the car.

Again, the difference to be financed says nothing. How much are they giving for the trade? What is the final price of the car?
How much down? What is the rate?
How much is the warranty from "Resource Automotive" Lots of profit in those and many of those have gone BK. I like what the others said. Where is the Chrysler warranty

+1 Sometimes I wonder
As I look for cars to buy and sell I keep seeing 100,000 mile Toyota's with new engines. Subaru's too

I can buy 2 2001 Pontiac Gran Prix's for the cost of 1 2001 Toyota. If to Gran Prix broke I could take the other one out of the garage anmd start driving it

The whole business is corrupt starting at the top down.
My friend moved to Boston to sell cars as they told him how much he could make. 30%
He called yesterday and told me it stunk, that he sold a used, base 2009 Nissan Versa for 13,999 (see cost below)
They told him they made no profit and gave him 200 LOL
While he was at another Nissan dealer he sold the first GTR in the state at 20,000 over sticker. The owner to him he could not "afford" to pay him the normal rate. LOL Gave him $500
This was a guy with a 70 foot boat, a 5 million dollar house LOL

I look at them as millionare panhandlers: Ah...are you going to need that 500 dollars sitting there?

Well, they asked me to come in tomorrow.

They're now pricing the car at $19.998, my trade is $12,800, plus the Chrysler warranty is $2650.

Very tempting deal, but I think I will have to resist the urge.

Keep shopping. I saw a lot of deals this weekend. I went looking

Keep the Corolla. Keep your cash in your hands. Do not deal anything. You need nothing that the dealer is trying to sell. You need nothing the dealer will try to sell.

They are making quite a bit on the Chrysler warranty
The car you linked was MSRP at 26500 now you say 19900?
Hard to believe they took that much off

That would be the end for me. If you talk to them again you are asking for nothing but trouble. They do not respect you as the customer.

I'd say that you are a glutton for punishment if you darken their doorstep (now or ever.)

They are low balling the price of the car and plan to make it up on the warranty and financing. I would hope the fact that they were discourteous to you before the sale would be reason enough not to return to that dealership.

The new Chrysler management (for lack of a better term) have done a nice job of trying to make a long in the tooth platform competitive, but at the end of the day that car is still toothy. Around here, one can get into a 2013 4 cyl 200 Touring for
Still say you have the better of the two cars. Stay the course.

Did I miss something? Is there a reason you're looking to get rid of the Corolla? I've driven one, not the most exciting car to drive but they'll last for ever.

Your Chrysler won't (and I'm a Chrysler fan).

Keep your Corolla and your money. Why go into a payment if you don't have to.

and if it were me, once the dealer [censored] me off, they would never see my money. No matter how much they sweetened the deal.
