Christmas weather? Well . . . sort of. Yesterday and the day before were the kind of weather this climate specializes in, and which I hate: warm, sticky, high temp pushing 80 F., low about 68. Gah. Then we got a line of storms through last night. This morning I woke to 51 F., no rain, windy. On my way back from breakfast, the sun was out, but it was still cool and fresh.

I still wish for some winter, and even a little snow. But this is better than the last two days.

This evening I'm taking Miss Linda to a very nice local restaurant which is open for Xmas Eve. What are your plans?

Rain. Gack. I thought we'd have a white Christmas, but alas, not in the cards. Supposed to get a few inches of rain actually. No fun.

We're doing less this year: no trip to see my parents.

So a laid back Christmas: service tonight at the church, open one present as a family, tuck kids away and bring down the pile. Then we'll have Christmas proper in the morn, a simple breakfast, hop in the truck and drive the 200 miles to the inlaws for Christmas #2 and then dinner.

Unlike years past though, no 11 hour trip the following day; instead we'll relax for a couple days then go home.

Enjoying my first Christmas in a house I own (an ever-growing part of). Making and enjoying good home-cooked food. Also being thankful for and humbled by the many blessings I've had this year. Couldn't have done it without a great support system (of which you fellow BITOG'ers are part). Family will be spending a few days here. Overall a relaxed Christmas.

The local news station posted HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS.

Then the article "Well it's not going to do much other than be warm and rain"

It is snowing on the Big Island in Hawaii, a rare treat for our friends in the Pacific. Here in Houston, it was chilly this morning, but rapidly warming to less than Christmas weather. At least it is not 85 or so like it was one Christmas in the recent past.

I just plan to relax from now until 05 January

Same here...that Pacific system brought unseasonably high temps + drizzle + humidity + clouds! Yuk...I actually had to turn on the AirCon to dehumidify the house!

Today is crisp, clear, 50°F and beautiful! I can return to wearing long pants.....

Merry Christmas Benz!

VERY windy in these parts right now with 90 percent rain predicted to begin in about an hour - looks like a stormy Christmas Eve.

And I just raked all the leaves in the yard in a great big pile which is now blowing all over the yard - oh well.

Will get the old expediting van out, and go visit the grandkids, my kids in Morristown,tn, camp 2 days at Panther Creek campgrounds, and such, drink coffee, hike some, what the world go by and chill if all goes well.............Merry Christmas to all of you.

And a merry Christmas to all of you. Linda is dragging me to church this a.m., and then she and I will make waffles and some eggs for brunch. Later I'll go out and touch up some paint nicks on the Buick; I hope to get the car clayed, glazed, and waxed before the New Year. My plans: Relaxing, getting some writing done -- I have a incomplete mystery manuscript that I want to forge onward with -- and maybe a road trip up to Ponchatoula or even Natchez, MS.

Despite the prediction from the Old Farmers Almanac, we've had fairly moderate temperatures so far this winter, with only one cold snap in November. It's been raining a bit, but the temperatures have been surprisingly warm for December.

Normally we do a lot of volunteer work over the Christmas holidays, but this year we're focusing on spending time with my dad. It's the first Christmas he has been without my mother since he was overseas in 1944-1945 and we want to make certain that he has everyone around to support him.
