We all know Chinese made and branded tires are not very good.
But the Chinese have a very successful space program.
If they can do that they certainly can build great tires if they wanted too.

A Chinese made Goodyear or Michelin tire will likely be just as good as a US or France made tire, as long as it's from the same family. If you're comparing a Crossclimate2 to a Goodyear Viva then yeah probably not comparable.

They are. Michelin has a tire plant in China and those tires are shipped all over Europe.

over generalized.
Doublecoin comes to mind.
There are millions upon millions of miles on Doublecoin tires on Big Rigs-as I'm sure you are aware.

Many BITOGers like to quote the "Kool-Aid" line and not do any research for themselves. Many of these posts just Echo false assumptions.

If I had to go Chinese, Doublecoin and Milestar aren’t bad choices. As a matter of fact, Kumho is owned by Doublecoin. Pirelli is part of ChemChina. Even PrimeWell has improved somewhat. International has been installing Doublecoin on school buses - which is usually a Goodyear/Michelin domain.

I still wouldn’t touch LingLong, Sailun, Goodride or WestLake.

But with tariffs on China slapped by a president I won’t talk about here, there have been an influx of Thai and Vietnamese tires. I’ve seen Otani and Leao from the corner tire shop and on Ubers. Hankook and Michelin(for their BFG/Riken/Uniroyal brands) have been sourcing from Indonesia.

Achilles are also a decent budget option- out of Indonesia rather than China however.

I believe Michelin bought out a Indonesian manufacturing partner. But there’s another tire maker there, and it’s not GT Tire or Hankook’s plant there.

The Chinese government puts more effort into their space program than they do tire manufacturing.

I have used METZELER motorcycle tyres for decades. After Pirelli / Metzeler was sold to a chinese Chemical company, i found the very small "Made in China" mark on my new metzeler Motorcycle tyre.

Yeah.. could be the same as the german made ones... But what (just for Example) if the foremann of the nightshift presses the workers to a higher output and they cut corners?

Switched to Bridgestone "Made in Japan" and never looked back.

Sailun has actually gotten good solid reviews on the RV forums for Class "A" motor home tires. And yes-I have personal experience with MileStar. They are a solid choice as well.

I ran Metzler MEZ1 -MEZ4 before finally giving up on them and went the Battlax T32 which is a much better tire.
