Chinese tire quality

Milestar is probably the better of the Chinese - the local Lexus dealer stocks them as the cheapskate option.

Radar I think is Indonesian. I’ve been seeing them a lot recently.
Radar is owned by Omni United out of Singapore, made in China, Thailand, India, and Indonesia. They also make Patriot, Corsa, and Roadlux.

The Chinese made Crosswind HP010 plus's have been excellent on our 2019 Pathfinder for ~15K miles so far. I can't say the same for the made in Thailand SuperMax TM-1's they replaced. The front left started to feel squishy and round off on the inside shoulder after ~11K miles. I had mail-ordered those through Wally and had a small shop mount/balance and install them for me.

The big local tire chain place I bought the Crosswinds from of course blamed the defect on the alignment of the pathfinder and wouldn't do anything for me about the SuperMax tires purchased elsewhere anyway. I declined an alignment and the crosswinds are wearing normally. FWIW, This particular tire store also sells SuperMax TM-1 tires.

In the end these two sets of tires cost me about $800. Would I have been better off buying a name brand set of 4 for $800? Probably.

That's how Giti (GT Radial) got started, in Singapore.
And oddly enough, Thailand also is the COO of many pushbike tires as well as motorbike tires. The Specialized Armadillo Elite tires on my road bike were made in Thailand, so was the set of Michelin Pilot Roads a friend installed on a Kawasaki Ninja 650. The exception to the rule are Conti GP4000/5000/GP4S and their tubular tires for road/cyclocross and Huchtinson/Pirelli Velo - made in Germany or France, respectively.

I chatted with a local tire shop that sells a lot of LingLong and Westlake - he said he does throw in a free alignment. Ironically enough, Big O has been selling Chinese/Thai tires under their Epic Tour brand(and the latest iteration appear to be a rebranded LingLong or Sailun version) - despite the fact TBC, Big O’s parent company is owned by Sumitomo Rubber.

Sounds like the shop is trying to pull a fast one - I doubt the Chinese/Thai brands will make “exclusive” tires for Walmart. Only Conti, Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli and Yokohama do that with Costco/BJ’s/Sams, Walmart, and Discount Tire. Ask him to show you his stock of those SuperMaxes against what you have, the DOT codes should be close except for date.

I'm sure there are Chinese tires that are far better than the Goodyear Eagle Touring that came on our RAM 1500. Those were downright SCARY in the rain and wore out rapidly.
I wouldn’t doubt it. I’ll say this, the tread pattern on Sailuns and LingLongs look better than some of the Goodyear OE and Bridgestone efforts I’ve seen.

It was totally on me because I didn't push the issue and was in kind of a hurry. I'm sure their TM-1's were the exact same tire that I purchased through WalMart. They did offer a free alignment check, but I was sitting in the waiting room for 2hrs just for them to install the new tires and this was with an appointment.
