We've got APEC going on down here, with all of the Asia Pacific leaders meeting to discuss economics, defence and trade.

During the press conference, one of the interviewers asked George Bush whether he was going to take China's leader to task for an "cyber attack on the Pentagon". response was basically that this isn't the nature of the meeting.

Funny, never heard anything about it until then.

Well, I'll tag along for the ride on China bashing. I really don't have much against them ...except they're going to absorb too much of my accumulated worth ..causing me (probably) to cash in horded chips for survival ...but ..

..I'm sure that none of the mentioned nations (Ger., GB, USA) would ever do such a thing against anyone else

Gary,
wasn't bashing (nor hoping to start a bash)...was amazed that I heard about it from Mark Riley (not a bad journo) asking a president a question regarding an "attack".

Was surprised at the response, not really important.

As to others doing similarly, Oz has had one Government rolled under suspicious circumstances.

Didn't want to imply that you were leading a call to China bash ...I'm just proclaiming my official China bashing status. That's all

It is kinda funny the response to the question.

"Wait! I'm here for an argument!"

"So, sorry. This is abuse. Arguments are two doors down on the right."

sprintman, I heard that there was some great trade deal done today, didn't hear the details.

If I guess correctly, it will be selling minerals rather than finished product (like all of our great deals lately).

Wonder what currency we will be getting paid in.

yep, $35B of Natural gas exports to China, by Woodside Petroleum.

The same woodside that told the federal Govt to reserve 25% of the gas reserves for Australia, which the feds denied, allowing our entire NG production to be sold.

Woodside's profits don't help our Federal Govt's "nett surplus" (check the wording, and Govt websites carefully to see what "nett surplus" means), except for some royalty payments.

About a month ago we blocked a large portion of Chinese IPs from a major state network.

Funny, I haven't heard anyone complaining about that. And I suspect we're not the only network that's done it...
