Hey everyone!

This is the first report from my 2011 Chevy Colorado. This run was in use through the hottest part of summer, as well as the coldest part of winter. Like Blackstone guessed, this was only the second chance on the engine ever, so I did expect wear numbers to be fairly high.

Let me know what you guys think. I do expect the wear numbers to trend down as the engine ages.

Oil filter was Amsoil EAO-64

ASL is good oil. I use to use it. The wear metal is high for 10K miles. I do not think the guy who wrote the comments realized it was km not miles. Your truck was mostly broken in when you started this oil run. I would run it again, but maybe to 12K km. The iron is pretty linear.

I wouldn't worry about it. GM engines often show higher metals than others, but as we know doesn't have anything to do with actual engine wear. GM engine last as long as others.

I'd say about as close to none as you can get. Oil level always showed full during the OCI, incuding the last time I checked it; about 1000km before I changed it.

ALSO, side note, for those curious, this was basically exactly how long my vehicle told me to run the oil, acording to the OLM. My vehicle doesn't give me a % reading, but simply a mesage saying "Change Oil" .... According to the owners manual, the oil should be changed within 1000km of this message first appearing, I went about 500km after the message first appeared before changing it... Still within OLM "life"

I agree. We are talking in ppm here.

Run the lube longer. This is a 10k mile run on Amsoil; if you don't extend, you're wasting money.

Otherwise, no big issues.

What a silly, silly comment DW.

Amsoil clearly states to run this oil, under severe driving, 15k miles OR 1 year. OP did the 1 - year interval, and got 10k on the oil.

With a TBN of 1.4, oil was clearly done, and has met Amsoils promises.

Your truck looks like it is running nicely on Amsoil. I wonder if my father-in-law's '06 Colorado 3.5 Z71 would react this nicely to the 5W30 Amsoil you are running - given the obvious success this oil is giving you. Keep up the good work!

Oil went in: July 2, 2012
out: February 22, 2013

So not quite a full year, about 7.5 months ish

But I don't think i'd be extending this run out any more, due to the fairly low TBN number.

I'm not worried about "wasting $$" because with the dealer/PC pricing I'm getting, Amsoil ends up being cheaper than Mobil 1 is priced in Canada... so no complaints from me

First of all Thank you! Has his truck had any headgastket problems arrise yet?? I know the 3.5l's had that issue come up fairly often. I can't say the oil will prform the same or not in his truck, only one way to really find out

driving style / routine / weater all affect it. Im sure I could run this oil longer if I lived in a place without a real winter
