chevy aveo takes funny fluid

This daewoo built thing is different from most chevys I've seen. Predict one will have to fight tooth & nail for proper fluids:

from GM:

Coolant -- The Aveo cooling system is factory filled with blue silicate/hybrid coolant (fig. 18) and will be serviced with traditional green coolant. This type of coolant must be drained, flushed and refilled every 30,000 miles (48,000 km). Use P/N 12378560 (1 gal). In Canada, use P/N 993088 (1L) or P/N 993089 (4L).

Power Steering Fluid -- The power steering system uses DEXRON® III fluid. Check the fluid level and adjust as necessary. Use P/N 12378470 (1 qt). In Canada, use P/N 10952621 (500 ml) or P/N 10952622 (1L).

TIP: The use of conventional power steering fluid in the system may lead to leaks.

The automatic transmission uses T-IV fluid GM P/N 88900925 (1 qt). In Canada, use P/N 22689186 (1L).

TIP: Do not intermix DEXRON® III fluid with the T-IV fluid.

I see your dealership recieved their Tech Link document. I told my boss about 2 weeks ago that a lot of Tech.'s and owners are going to put washer solvent in their coolant resivoir etc....

I also think that the multi-function hold button on the shifter is going to confuse the heck out of people. I also liked how you have to push the ****er knob down to get the shifter out of park!!! This is going to confuse a lot of people!! You would think that GM could have reworked the shifter to make it more uniform with the rest of GM's product line!!

I just hope it is better then the GEO Metro!

Since the late 1970,s cars are the biggest piles of junk, the engineers as well as the management should be sent to Siberia for life. I'm sorry but that is how I feel.

People that gripe about current cars should have to drive such fine automobiles as the 68 Chevele or 71 Valient I owned. And with the old bias ply tires.

Had a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A 340 ci engine and 4 speed it was not as up to date as a 2004 car but if I could buy either year car new it would be a 1970.

Yeah, here we go again with manufacturer-specific lube requirements. I'm willing to bet quite a few GM dealers will also be confused and use the wrong fluids. Oops!

The T-IV ATF is a Toyota spec, I think the Pontiac Vibe with auto (Same as the Toyota Matrix) requires this as well. Better stick with the 5 speed!

About 2 weeks ago I was watching Speed Channel and Motorweek, they had a "first drive" of the car: Tiny, cheap, nice soft ride for a putt-putt. Well, at least you can go to any Chevy dealer to get it worked on.

I think it's actually Korean, DaeWoo or MyBoo or some weird name like that. The company went t*** up and GM bought it.

I feel the same way sometimes. True, I love the modern gadgets like A/C, power everything, heated leather, ABS, etc etc. Thing is, when you get the MIL, it usually takes exotic and $$$ just to figure out what quit.

I grew up on ancient clunks that any kid with a few bucks and a basic toolbox could keep on the road. When the new cars work, I'm much happier driving them. Something goes haywire and you have to resign yourself to a very $$$ dealer visit if off warranty.

Most BMWs and some Mercedes are being shipped with the blue stuff, why couldn't GM source some G-05 or something?
