Does anyone know how well Chevron Supreme 10w30 holds up in extreme conditions like towing a big boat or heavy utlity vechile for hunting? Not to say thats "extreme" but it does build up heat and make the engine work harder. Truck is a GMC Z71 with the 5.3 V8?

I've ran the sister oil, Havoline 10w30 in several towing, hunting, and mild-offroading vehicles for many years.
A 1979 350 Chevy 4x4 3/4-ton that hauled a 12' camper with a 4k# boat for over 14yrs and 300k miles; a '73 Chevy 4x4 1/2-ton that dug it's way through more riverbeds and mine-shafts then I can remember; an '85 Toyota p-up used for hunting on the Colorado Divide 11-12k feet above sea-level; as well as 2 Isuzu Rodeo's that have had their share of hauling that same 4k# boat.

My 1987 F250 SuperCab has the last rendition of the Holley 4-barrel 460 & a C6. And carries a 3,200 lb. camper in the bed.
Been using Chevron Supreme 10w30 for the last three years with absolutely no problems of any kind, what-so-ever.
I agree with Mr. M (above) as far as really hot weather is concerned but don't have that to deal with here in O-REE-Gun. Maybe on a cross country trip, though?

Before I got rid of my Explorer, I used Chevron 10W30 with great results:

Ain't much gonna hurt that 5300 engine.
Keep using a quality oil, change it less than 5k miles (if you are gonna be towing/hauling a 4-wheeler) and use a good filter (PureONE or Wix), and you won't see anything but great things from that engine.
I treated mine to a yearly dose of substituting a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil during an oil change and ran that oil for 1500 miles.
My fuel mileage improved from 19-20 MPG highway to 21-22 MPG at 90,000 miles. Factory plugs, wires.

A group II+ oil with a strong additive pack and a vortec engine you will be fine.
