cheapest name brand conventional oil

Cheapest name brand conventional here depends on the Wally rollback of the week. There is almost always one or more of Castrol GTX, Pennzoil conventional, Quaker State conventional, or Valvoline conventional on sale for the same $10.88/5 gallon jug to choose from.

Supertech is rarely any kind of deal here simply because our WMs don't seem inclined to price it as aggressively as the brands above, the rare time they do roll it back. The only time I imagine they sell much of it here is when it happens to be the only oil on rollback that day, and people buy it not knowing (or caring) that the next day or following week there will be a better oil on as a good or better rollback.

But then, those of us who shop and buy oil ahead of time (well before we plan to change it) are probably a minority among even the few who still do their own OCs.

That's it right there - you can't beat that.

Another vote for supertech.

Of course I picked up 2 cases of Citgo syn blend for $1.24 just recently (received my $18 rebate check)

Fleet farm also had Resolute on sale for $1.35 a quart so I picked up 4 cases.

I don't consider Super Tech to be a "name brand" dino. I say this because, a.) it's a store brand, b.) it's made for Wally by different makers/companies in different parts of the country, many times hard to tell who. At ~$10.50 a 5qt. jug it likely is the cheapest everyday priced store brand.

Least expensive Wally everyday major name brands in jugs is Quaker State Green (all weights), Mobile Super5K (excludes 5w20), Havoline DS (excludes 5w20) and surprisingly Castrol GTX @~$13.50 (rolled back, won't last). I rarely price quarts at Wally, too high relative to jugs. Just use for price match.

Also they don't charge the empty bottle redemption fee on the 5qt containers.
