Changing 07 Accord Trans. Filter Need Torque Specs

Hello, I am new here and have heard great things about this forum. After hitting a dead end after hours of researching I figured I would ask on here.

I plan on changing the transmission filter and fluid and cant seem to find the torque specs for the bolts that go on the housing of where the filter is at or any of the bolts required for removal for that matter.

This link shows how to change everything, but gives no torque specs. I.E. the banjo bolt after adding new crush washers and of course the housing bolts. The drain and fill plugs can be found online easily enough.

Do I need to go purchase a Hayne's manual, or would that even give me the torque specs? Am I overthinking this and should just hand tighten them all which the write up seems to encourage? I would feel more comfortable knowing the factory torque specs though.

For the same year Pilot V6, the filter is internal and is secured by 3 bolts 6x1.0mm bolts tightened to 12Nm or 8.7 lb-ft. Virtually all Honda 6x1.0mm bolts use this torque spec, except for a few that are very short. 8mm and larger bolts have a much more varied range of torque requirements.

The link you provide shows an externally accessible filter like the earlier Pilots. However removal is not covered in my 2005 Pilot factory manual; this reticence by Honda on how to replace the filter has been remarked upon by owners a lot, with many dealers denying it even exists because it is not in the repair manual; but it is in the parts breakouts.

PS I haven't found Haynes manuals to be very useful for the past few decades, especially in regards to actual specs.

The 3 bolts for the filter 12 Nm (8.7 lb-ft)

The banjo bolt 28 Nm (21 lb-ft)

Can you torque by feel?

Imagine screwing the lid onto a bottle of pop - you need it tight enough to not leak but you don't want is so tight you can't get it off again.

I have done this exact job before. The fastener torque is not critical for this application. Snug them up normally with a 3/8" ratchet and you'll be fine.

All great information, thank you all. Darwin1138 seems to have hit the nail on the head though with the info from the service manual. I feel much more confident going into this job now.

Instead of starting a new thread I figured I would build on this one.

I plan on also doing the three drain and fills to fully change out all the ATF. The Honda dealer wants $107 for their DW1, 10 quarts. At that price, from what I have heard about the stuff, Amsoil ATF would be a much better product with minimal increase in cost. Its $125 for the Amsoil, not including shipping.

I am sure the topic has been beaten to death, but which fluid should I go for? I think some are die hard about sticking with OEM fluid when it comes to the transmission.
