They used to. Actually, they came in "pro" packs of 12, but the were same filter as the orange Frams on the shelf.

They changed over to the "Cores" a couple of years ago. As someone indicated, however, they are not all e-cores. The 'Asian car' filters are not, with the exception of the 3614.

Look inside the filter at the center tube
If it is a plastic cage and you cansee alot of the media,then it is an e-core
In the past there were a few issues with the media blowing out but I dont know if that is still the case
Anyway,they were a 3000 mile filter at best imo

Thanks for using our products. The FRAM EG filter is different than the STP in a few ways. The STP filter is 92% efficiency @20 microns, the EG is 95.7%@20 microns. The FRAM has the sure grip on it as well. Those are what drives the cost differences along with the advertising we do for the branded product. The STP filter is a the well known ecore design, the line can make up to 10,000 filters per hour and that is another driver of the cost.

To clear things up-
We sell the Ecore filter to AZ as the STP filter. It is also sold to AC Delco and a few others. The only place it is used under the FRAM brand is in the WalMart Tire and Lube centers. The Ecore is equal to or better than many OE filters and is used as OE on quite a few vehicles.

With regards to capacity and not efficiency, what im interested in is the grams each of your different filters can hold. Example: Bosch Premium stats on their website that that filter can hold 14 grams of dirt.

Unless your engine is filthy you dont really need to worry about this
Any name brand filter will work fine for you
You just need to match your oil to filter-such as a 5k oil use a 5k filter
If you want to go longer make sure you use compatible oils and filters as far as mileage

Next change: NO ADDITIVES, FRAM Ultra (15k I think is what the box says) but cant decide between Pennzoil High Mileage or Platinum, I wonder if the synthetic has the seal conditioner like the high mileage does?

Without releasing any proprietary information, are the ACDelco ecores pretty much equivalent to the STPs? Is the media pretty much the same?

A FRAM Ultra in the same size holds 32 grams, A Tough Guard 14 grams, EG would be 11 grams

STP traditionally had fewer pleats than the comparable AC/Delco.

An Ecore Kohler, likely FRAM under the black paint, is now the OEM filter for my lawn mower.

Before the move to Ecore, the OEM Kohler appeared to be built by FRAM.

At least the two I still have in my filter stash were.

If you want a filter that holds a lot of dirt, don't count out the Bosch Distance + also on the shelf at Walmart.

I'm liking that filter a lot lately.

The newer yellow pro/hd one is the champ/fram ecore......the older black ones that ive cut look chinese...is your mower new?...kohler might have changed the black one recently..??..im curious.
