Hello all! Got a question regarding rotors. I am currently in the market for new brake pads and rotors and would like anyone's input.

Vehicle: 2009 Honda Civic Si Sedan
Mileage: 65,xxx

The pads I am looking at now are, Hawk HPS Pads

The Centric rotors are, Centric 125 Rotors

Are these decent rotors or should I go with something else.

You really should get Akebono pads, Honda has been using them for years....

My last break job on 2000 accord went with Akebono and Centric. Couldnt be happier. Its quality for good price.

I had hawk pads rust-jack themselves away from their backing plate in 2 years. Junk!

They also dug into my rotors viciously, and this was their street line, not all-out race.

Have the Centric Premium(E-Coating) on my daughter's Mazda 3 and they're doing very well since 2010. Along with the Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic Pads.

Though, I would use another brand of ceramic pads as the Centric Pois-Quiet Ceramic are quite dusty(dark). I do like Akebono ProAct Ceramic comparatively!

..I did the same for both my 2 subarus and pontiac…centric rotors and centric ceramic pads..I have used the top of the line akebono pads…the only difference i found was that on a cold morning the akebono had a stronger initial pad bite..

I too have noticed that the Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic don't quite have the bite when cold(below 20 degs F) as compared to the Akebono Pro-Acts(my favorite) but, it's marginal and nothing to really complain about as all 3 vehicles with the Centric PQ's do stop fine overall!

Equally or if not better then subaru..

Yea, I like(OK) the Centric PQ Ceramic's and I did get them all at a great price from RA. I ordered for all 3 cars at the same time and since the Centric pads all came from the same location, only paid 1 low shipping price.

I really haven't use a ceramic pad that I didn't like. Just some better than others. Kind'a like a good Porter!

+1 on the Akebono Pro-Act pads. Centric rotors are fine. I have some with the e-coating.

I think for non racing, Hawk is overkill.

Same here!

I have used "higher performance" brake pads in vehicles in the past. I got'em cheaper(to my surprise) than the replacement pads at the autoparts store when buying brakes for my car(s).

I'll never do it again! I almost couldn't stop until they warmed up and then, they were only OK! I dindn't know this about these types of pad until I experienced it for myself. I just don't think that HP pads are good for everyday type driving. There may be some HP pads that will work well in normal driving but, you'll never know until you give'em a try. Who wants to go through all that? The High Performance do have their place!

Now, it's only normal replacement pads for me though, I am partial to ceramic pads.

I have a strong preference for OEM pads but I just put Akebono ProAct Premiums on my 99 Avy and they are very nice. I have had great success with both Raybestos AT and Centric Premium rotors but like the Centric's better. The machining is excellent and the e-coating holds up well against winter road salt.
