So I just realized last weekend that the brake pads on my car are a bit thin. I plan on having the brake pads and rotors replaced when my semester is over. I plan on finding an independent mechanic that will install pads and rotors that I will bring myself. The car is a 2002 Maxima. On the maxima.org Hawk HPS and Brembo rotors are in favor, and that is the current combo I plan on using. So I was wondering if anybody knows anything about the Brembo rotors. I can get them for $40/each rear and $50/each front from Amazon. Right now just the rotors and pads alone I'm looking at $295. I have about $100 Amazon credit that I was going to get a GPS with but now that is going towards parts. Another option for rotors are from Centric which are the OEM. There is only a $10 difference between the Centrics and the Brembos. Which one is better?

Hey I have HAWK's HPS in my Mazda 3 I'm not impressed with them because when they are cold braking isn't really good...

Warmed up are great ..

agreed. they work best when they are HOottt

I've had the Hawk HPS pads on my Supra for 7 years and they have been great. The Supra Stillen rotors. I put Brembo rotors on my dad's 911 with Porsche OEM pads about 6 years ago and they have been great. Should be a good combo.

I went with the Brembo blanks on my 2002 Z-28 to get around very weak OEM rotors (they warp abnormally easily). Had the Brembos cryo treated just in case that helped (I'm lazy, and didn't want to do the job again). So far, I've been very happy with them. Would have gone with the Hawk pads, but I didn't want to pay or wait for shipping, so I got AZ ceramic instead.

I just put Brembo rotors and PBR ceramics on my Civic last week. So far so good, braking is much better than before (stock).

And I ordered another set of Brembos and Centric Posi quiet extended wear on my 4Runner, sadly, they told me that don't have Brembos in-stock (2 days after I placed my order). I'm considering of getting the Raybestos PG rotors at Kragen for only $38 each with 2 year warranty. I hope they will be fine for my truck.

I had lots of problems with Brembo rotors in my Honda Accord. They warped VERY easily. Usually within a thousand miles. I even tried turning them twice and they just kept warping. I finally gave up and bought made in China junk rotors and they were fine for the life of the pads. Its hit or miss in my opinion.

Nissan uses Centric? Really?

Anyhow, I've used Brembo front rotors on my old 90 Legend (drilled actually), and they didn't warp (like the originals did). I also have a set of plain Brembos (and PBR Deluxe Plus pads) sitting around waiting for me to get annoyed enough at the warped OEM front rotors on my CL-S.

That is what is believed on maxima.org, but I don't know if it is true. It might be if Centric is a Japanese company since pretty much everything on the car is made in Japan. I think people think so because of the painted hubs on the original rotors, which doesn't necessarily mean they are Centric.

I think I will be using the Brembos (regulars) since the price difference between a good cheap rotor (Autozone Duralast Gold) and the Brembos isn't great enough to justify cheaping out.

Centric isn't Japanese, they're based in Southern California.

The Centric Premium rotors have a painted hat which makes them look a lot nicer. The Brembos do not.
