Hello All!
I’ve been trying to decide the benefits of running Cen-Pe-Co Oils in my newer, everyday vehicles vs. actual Dexos/API certified/licensed products.
I haven’t seen this information on the boards yet, so I reached out to the tech department of Cen-Pe-Co Oil. I asked if their 0W-20 and 5W-30 fully synthetic oil was Dexos1 Approved and API-SP to protect against LSPI. While their products are not licensed, the technical advisor advised that Cen-Pe-Co had well exceeded API-SP standards well before they were developed. They claimed that they choose not to license them, specifically Dexos1 because of the costly fee of estimated $0.30-50/gallon.
Furthering the conversation, he personally recommended using a synthetic/synthetic blend filter media saying that the PurolatorOne worked well.
We have a local Cen-Pe-Co Dealer, but I’m hesitant as both vehicles are still under the GM Powertrain Warranty.
The only downfall to this oil is that you have to buy their product in cases of 12 quarts, or gallons all the way up to very large storage tanks.
Current price, as of June 20, 2022 was $95.82 for a case of 12 Quarts, which equals $7.99/Quart.
My Vehicles:
2019 GMC Terrain SLE 1.5L Turbo FWD
36k Miles
2017 Chevy Cruze LT 1.4L Turbo FWD
26k Miles
I’m still researching to see what the best synthetic media filter and fully synthetic oil is for the GM vehicles, aside from OEM ACDeclo.
Attached are the documents received by Cen-Pe-Co directly.
