Sorry Stevie but there is a reason for the bans. If there wasn't a issue do you really think your company would ban the use? I think that you are like I was when I drank and drove. Never had a accident or close call and never got pulled over so I thought I was a good driver. Maybe if you had a video of your driving you'd see something quite different than what you want to believe. I think the incompetent ones are the ones that ignore facts, and yes they are facts, that using even hands free devices usually are more of a hazzard.

I never quite figured out the "feature length" cell phone conversation when behind the wheel. I'm particularly fond of the full facial animations with head bobbing and whatnot.
Like I said on another thread (THD parking thing), we're in that Steven King movie IMPULSE. We just haven't drank the water yet.
I could never imagine that this would evolve to this new interpersonal communication modality. I've never known anyone to stay on a phone perpetually unless that was their job.
I found myself comparing the cell phone to the original Star Trek communicator ..and it is for the most part much more, but I never saw Kirk talking trash to his newest alien conquest over it.

my rule is, phone gets switched off 5PM, on at 8:30AM. unless i know i may get called out at 7AM but that is usually known the day before.
eating at the table is the reinforcement in any family's fabric, please keep doing it. i never did it as a kid, and I hardly know my immediate family. now that i have kids, it will be different.

Comparing drunk drivers to using the phone is retarded. I have been "over the edge" drunk and won't drive and have done the responsible thing and taken a cab to my destination and this is because I know my reaction time is impaired and I really shouldn't be on the road. I also don't drive if I'm really sick with the flu and my head isn't 100% focused on driving. But I would any day of the week drive around with an instructor on a closed course with obstacles and show them I can safely operate a vehicle with my phone conversation going on.
Sorry no simulators because that is just ridiculous and IMO not the true likeness of actual driving.

While on the phone a dog ran out onto the street in front of my vehicle and I stopped in ample time without causing an accident. The dog took off. (Still on the phone) I then proceeded to continue driving and somebody jumped out between two parked cars while I was doing about 40kph. I swerved to avoid them because I knew the lane next to me was free as I had just checked that mirror prior.
If I was so impaired I would of killed a person and an animal that day.
There are a lot more incidents that I avoided while on the phone.

I know this is immature of me, but I tend to ignore most bans. I will talk on my phone if I want to even if it's banned. Of course, I rarely use the cell phone anyway - but I don't feel a ban is the answer to everything. People are people and there will always bee goofs to ruin it for the rest.
When I'm driving, I'm too busy concentrating on the other driving morons and the fool things they do to even consider distracting myself with a cell phone.

You're kidding, right? You're the ONLY guy in the world whose coordination and skills aren't diminished while on the phone?
What happens if the OPP spots you and pulls you over; they're not going to buy your claim of extraordinary coordination. Or, even worse, what if the unfortunate occurs and you DO hit a kid or another vehicle, and there are witnesses who testify you were using the phone, in violation of Ontario law and company policy.
