CCW Renewal

Here in south carolina you're lucky to get your renewal if you started the process 6 months ahead of time. Permits and renewals here are not handled at any local courthouse or sheriffs dept but out in columbia sc. I will send my renewal in September for a December expiration.
Don’t need anymore. Finally.

I understand if you want it out of state.

My main reason for continuing to want a CCW is it exempts you from the Instacheck background check when you purchase a firearm. That system can cause problems going down all the time.

And I know guys that have had their background checks either delayed or rejected for things like unpaid parking tickets, and other glitches. Laying a CCW on the counter avoids all of that. Plus you can carry without any issues.

In IL if you provided fingerprints (optional) when applying for a FOID or CCW, whenever a background check and your form 4473 is approved then your CCW automatically renews another 10 years. However, I don't know where we can see our current CCW expiration (maybe the state police website) but it's a good reason to keep buying more guns :D.

OP good to hear. The Pa county I grew up in processed the renewal quickly and you had it in a week or so. The Pa county I moved to before AZ the sheriff was anti-CCW and held the renewal apps as long as possible before processing resulting in some people having the permit expire before the renewal came. This was 20+ years ago, hope things are better now.

The process has significantly improved since my last renewal 5 years ago...and that wasn't even so time consuming.

Depending on when your renewal is due, here in Illinois, you have to take a 3 hour refresher course before you can renew. The first application is 16 hours of classroom and range qualification before you're granted. I believe we were the very last state in America to approve CCW too.

Used to live in Delaware years ago. Had to jump through some hoops for the carry permit... classroom with a certified instructor. State Police fingerprinting... qualify on the range with x amount of rounds.
Glad to be gone from there.

FL was the same thing less than 15 min. to renew in person. No permit is required if you stay in state.
Again, it’s the reciprocity thing. States change their reciprocal arrangements all the time.

For example, Virginia’s new attorney general recently slashed the number of permits recognized by Virginia.

Which is why I have three different permits.

Correct me if I'm wrong but obtaining the Utah out of state gives reciprocity with the most states.

Bishop Shanahan HS is still going strong. My wife's nephew(BILs grandson) just graduated from there... heading to WCU in the Fall.
It moved I think. I went to the old campus with her when she had her 30th reunion. One of the teachers showed her off to his class saying that "yes it is possible to survive his class." Mr Sagnella I think it was, I probably slaughtered the spelling.
