Well, this horse is about as dead as they come, but IMO, Castrol does deserve somewhat "special" treatment. They were originally brewing Syntec as a PAO product, just like M1. When they realized they could make a G-III product easier and cheaper, the switched to G-III. Oddly enough, the price stayed right where it was, and they held the product out as if nothing had changed. I'm well aware that G-III oils can and do work just fine. If you're comfortable with the product, then by all means, please use it. I might even consider it if they sold it somewhere around $3 per quart. But there it is, priced right along with the G-IV and G-V products. Of course, if the market supports the pricing, power to them (I just won't be buying, except GC...).quote:

Why is it that syntec only gets bashed never the other group 3's?
The other companies are just followers that hopped on the G-III bandwagon after Castrol cleared the way for them.
