Because I can not find M7500 anywhere, I started using Castrol Syntec Blend in my 01 CR-V. Since using CSB I noticed increase in mpg. I went from 23mpg to 29mpg since January. Also the CR-V seems to be driving smoothly and quitely.

Just mentioning this fact. Didnt know an oil could make your mpg increase.

Perhaps, but my CR-V never got this good of mileage since I owned it. It was 81K miles on it now.

Is it of the same viscosity as the prevous fill?
It could be just a right combination of factors, each contributing a little bit to the overall improvement.
Funny you've mentioned noise reduction.
Lately it had become a very controversial topic on this board.

For whatever reason the Castrol lubes tend to generate the positive feedback in that area, while Mobil ones do the opposite.

The summer blend probably makes a big part of your jump in MPG but I'll add that since I put in CSB a week ago my MPG jumped a bit. I was avg 33-34 mpg with the Chevron/Havoline mix but my first tank of gas with the CSB I eeked out 36.10 mpg.

Even if it is not related it is fun to think so

Well, it has increase my mileage by that much, and I have the mileage and how much gas I put in. It could be related to a ton of factors, summer blend gas, right air temp, who knows. Yes same 5w30 and filtech Honda OEM filters.

So Goose you got 3mpg increase? Cool!

Actually reading some other threads, perhaps its because I use top tier gas exclusively...

Sorry no audio recordings....

You know, it's funny you mention this. I highly suspect your increase MPG is from weather, etc. In general, cars use more gas in winter.

HOWEVER, I went from MC 5w20 to Castrol Syntec Blend 5w20 in my van last Dec. At the same time, I ditched the stock air filter (20K miles) for a K&N drop-in (don't start!). My winter city MPG went from 16-17 to 18-20. I obtained 20 MPG on 2 tanks. I was shocked -- as it's all city driving. EPA is 18 City, 23 Hghway.
