Castrol Magnatec observation

If you want a name brand, full synthetic 5W-30 in Australia, and you want a good deal on the price, there are only two choices: Castrol Magnatec "Stop-Start" and Shell Helix HX8.

Both are API SN and Euro ACEA A3/B4.

Everything else is overpriced compared to these two. Regular M1 5W30 is double the price or even more. Sorry Mobil, full synthetic Magnatec or HX8 will do me fine, and keep a lot more coin in my pocket.

A). Because I want to.
B). The best you can get is always the cheapest in the long run.

Too many financial experts on this board.

Another reason NOT to change out the Ultra....is that the filtering IMPROVES as the further along in use. In other words....you'l get better filtering at the 8000 mile level, than at 4000.

IMO, its a waste of $$$ to use a top-tier filter (Fram Ultra) only 4000 miles.

I know the Ultra is perfectly capable of going many more miles but it had been on there a little over a year and I was switching oils so I wanted all the previous fill removed. The can looked good when I removed it so if i use maxlife again next time I may consider a second oci on the ultra. I've seen enough pics of orange cans and tough guards cut open that I avoid them. Nothing to do with fiber end caps, it is the wavy pleats that bother me. However, at least they usually don't tear.

I'm no expert, but I thought I read somewhere on that didn't particularly apply to filters dealing with liquid. I believe it was Motorking but he does work for Fram so I guess it's better if we buy more

Didn't make much sense to me but can anyone show a study?
