Castrol Magnatec 5W-20

Running the 5w20 full syn in our KIA now. This is after a prior run of 5w30 Magnatec. I think the start up racket typical of the Hyundai/KIA engines is slightly less (and I mean slightly) with Magnatec. Not a hill I would plant a flag on though but I think it is so.

It does run very quiet at full temp. Have been very satisfied with it so far.

As an aside, the Magnatec does not seem to smell "fruity" when drained like it's predecessor Castrol syn blend did. Ran several OCI's of that in the KIA too.

Seems a good value the Magnatec, especially the full syn 20 grade offerings.

Was thinking of switching over to Magnatec 5w20 or Edge. Edge likely has the same ability as Magnatec.

Just out of curiosity. I have a 1.4l turbo Chevy Cruze that I generally run Pennzoil ultra in. I drive almost 1,000 miles a week for work. Magnatec 5w30 is DEXOS1 rated, but its a semi syn that doesn't meet HTO-06. Is this oil ok for Turbo Applications???

As long as it meets Dexos, it's approved oil for your Cruze 1.4T. Depending on your driving habits, a full synthetic might be worth a look as well. That would really be a personal choice.

I would go more towards Edge in that situation. You'll get the benefit of Magnatec + better turbo protection. My .02
