Castrol HD30 & HD40 ZDDP level

The current level of Zinc in mono-grade Castrol HD30 and HD40 are both 900 PPM. I found this information on a Castrol web site. I had tried to access this same part of there site over a week ago and nothing would happen. Now it works. There specks list Zinc as 0.09 percent by weight. 0.09 percent is 900 PPM (again by weight)

Another web site said that the Zinc level for Castrol HD has decreased after July of 2006 .

My question is: " Do you think that the current level of Zinc of 900 PPM is high enough for small air cooled motors?"

Or should people who use small air cooled motors be considering using ZDDPlus or some other product to increase Zinc level?

I saw a posting for "Howard's" Zinc additive that is also suppose to contain a molly lube additive. What is the best additive?

What is the desired level of Zinc, 1200 PPM, 1300 PPM, ex. ?

What experiences if any, have you had with what similar oils for air cooled small motors?

Since they're just out, it's hard to get much real-world experience. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say they'll work just fine. Air cooled small engines generally would have to be considered non-radical cam/low valve spring pressure.

If you've followed the "Kill the Briggs/Stratton" thread at all, you have to figure they'll run on just about anything...

A lot of air cooled engines are running on SA and SB oils for years. So if those can run on that oil the Castrol is more than adequate with 900 ppm.

I've never heard of a small engine in a mower or whatever losing a cam lobe.
