Hey all, I know Lucas is not well regarded here but I'm curious if anyone has done an analysis on either of the above oils before use for a comparison.

No. I am using Castrol Classic in my 1968 Firebird 350. The performance valvetrain is quieter with this oil.

If it calls for 20w-50 then that Castrol GTX classic is probably the way to go it's fairly cheap and it's got the zinc for those flat tappet cam engines.
That's what I'm thinking, I'm just curious on the differences in ppm of additive packs in the two oils, I'm sure the base oil will be the same

I think there are some GTX classic reports in the VOA/ UOA/ & check the motorcycle forum as well.

I dont recall a Lucas oil analysis but there could be.

I would roll with the Castrol classic vs Lucas.

Valvoline VR-1 20w50 could also be an option... as well as Mobil 1 15w50 for readily available off the shelf oil.
