Castrol Edge consumption - recent oil change

I may cut this OCI a little short and try a thicker viscosity of Castrol EDGE, probably the 5w30, since it is on the thin side.

Does anyone have a side by side comparison with Syntec 5w20 and Castrol EDGE 5w30? As far as 100C, HT/HS, etc

Found it. syntec 100*C is 9 and Castrol EDGE is 9.8 100*C. anyone think that will make a big difference hot as far as MPG, etc?

If its consuming a little, I'd consider extending the OCI, rather than shorten. I gave up after 2 5K mile cycles of 10W30 Edge. It used it at a rate I couldn't handle. I'm back to whatever is on sale.

The Buick began using the stuff too. Previously, on both syns and dino, my consumption had been about a quart in 4K miles. Suddenly, after switching to 5w30 Edge, I was having to put in a quart in 1200 miles! I went back to a dino, in this case Mobilclean 5000 in 10w30, and the consumption improved to a quart in 1700. I ran some Seafoam through the PCV line and put MMO in the oil for the final 500-mile segment of a recent highway trip. I'll change, sticking with the same oil, and report if the consumption has really improved. But the Edge sure seemed to accelerate the consumption.

you are all going to think i'm nuts, but i drained the 0w20 because the engine was making some funny sounds under load, almost like a knock type noise at certain RPM under certain load conditions, and i noticed more and more vibration at idle, especially cold. I replaced it with 5w30 edge and it is much better, engine is even quieter and vibration has basically cease to exist. Engine "sounds" much healthier all around, and the rattle noise i once heard at high RPM is also gone. I think my engine did not agree with that viscosity. I plan on using the MM and changing it at 10-15% remaining. I also switched to an Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter.

After a couple tanks of fuel, i will post back about fuel mileage and consumption.

not saying that it is, but, the different filter could be the culprit of the noise that is
