Castrol EDGE 5w50 voa

New Sp formula Castrol EDGE 5w50, purchased November 2025. I emailed Castrol, they said 1400ppm zinc & 1228 phosphorous. At any rate, I’m gonna run this in a vintage Pontiac 400 hydraulic roller engine.

14.8 cst kv100 must be wrong, other than that it looks good and thank you for the voa.

Unless Kentucky is colder than I think I'd go for the more shear stable Mobil 1 15w-50.

Castrol Syntec 5W-50 was one of the first viscosities offered when it was marketed in the United States in the 1990s

I run Castrol EDGE 10w-60 in my Moto Guzzi. As per owners manual. Some very expensive oil.

I sent a sample from the same bottle off to Amsoil to be tested for a back to back . Anyone have any speculation on the results ?

Here’s the results from Amsoil - out of the same bottle as I sent to black stone . These results are more inline with Castrol’s claims

It looks like Oil Analyzers tested TAN instead of TBN. If it's not too late, I would request that they retest the sample for TBN.

This is not the first time Oil Analyzers results have matched the manufacturer's claims but Blackstone results were off (typically on the low side).

I added both VOAs to the VOA Database.
