I bought some CarQuest brake pads (Silver) for $25 for the rear of my truck. Should the rating be listed on the edge of the brake pads? It that required? I cannot find the rating.

The goal of these pads was going to be to slap them on in cold weather so I would not damage calipers as rear pads are almost gone. They maybe crappy pads but have to be better than worn out pads.

I do have Akebono pads and Wagner coated rotors to install when it's warmer.

But have not put them on yet.

The box is heavy and pads look decent.

If they are listed for your application (truck make, model and year) then they are rated for at least the OEM friction. Older packaging will usually be without this information.

I would just use them, as the money is already spent.

If there are shims installed on the pads, you may need to remove them to see the printed information on the back of the pad.
