Carquest and MicroGuard oil filters

I have seen a couple of Ecogards with torn pleats and maybe a few PGI's with excess glue but those are few and far between when compared to the running average of crap Mann + Hummel USA put out. Even the PGI's with excess glue were a non issue as the glue they use cures pretty hard to not really be shedding into the oil flow stream unlike the M+H filters with their black glue that easily peels off.

This filter was off a work vehicle; 2020 KIA Forte for almost 6,4xx milers. Have not saw a ECOGARD oil filter that tore to be honest. Reinstalled a ProTec “by WIX” made in China and Safety Kleen 5w30 synthetic. 41,xxx on vehicle.

My made in China ones have red P type gaskets, and they sure feel like silicone to me.

My China CQPs and STP XLs had red square cut gaskets.

I remember the STP XLs I received for my daughter’s Santa Fe were China made and definitely a different design than the Vietnam versions for my Sierra (and the CQ premiums). I ended up returning them all thinking at the time they weren’t PGI. I remember at the time some suggested that it’s possible AZ may have recently switched to PGI and it was some older stock or had multiple companies making the XLs. Don’t know if that’s true, but thought I’d share
