Carnivore for 90 days......

+1
These fad diets are for the birds.

Carnivore is a fad. I don't see a heavy protein diet and int or true fasting in the same realm. I do see a diet have with protein and appropriate rufage to be a great solution for many. We aren't all the same so slight differences in us matter.

Just think of who you are listening to and believing has your interest at heart. Since the 50's eggs were BAD!!!!!!!!!! And the reality is big agra hammered egss to the moms of the 50's and pushed cereals.

@BigJohn Dry or Water fasting? They both have their benefits.

Whenever you open a fast, open it with a high protein (low fat), no carb meal and do a good gym session. Afterwards, eat a good, proper meal with carbs to recover the best, and then you can do whatever diet you want to follow.

Whenever I follow gym seriously, my first meal when I wake up is as mentioned above, and I do a full body weight training session with sprints at the end. I can lose serious body fat in 30-45 days, It is not for everyone; I am relentless, and I have been weight training since I was 14, so going back to weight training has always been an easy transition for me.

Do remember to stretch at the end of your workouts.

You do understand or maybe not he can never eat a carb on true carnivore diet. I do think most people who claim to be doing carnivore or not it’s cool to say but in reality they are just low carb. Many people add in fruit I’m not against it and very beneficial but no you’re not doing carnivore many people fall in the same category as the last cool fad I’m doing Keto no you’re not it’s just low carb diet.

Yeah, we (the wife and I) don't intend to Carnivore forever. This is a 90 day thing. After 90 days we will start introducing Keto friendly carbs in an elimination effort to see if we have any intolerance's that we need to stay away from. Then we are doing KETO moving forward.
Also note that the things you mentioned about poor eating and alcohol are going to be a double edged sword when burning fat. Lots of that crap is stored in fat, so when you are leaning up your body is forced to eat that along with anything in that tissue. Counterintuitive, but you'll increase "toxins" by losing weight. It's still worthwhile.

Autophagy is the magic word here. And yes, I regularly do OMAD, along with occasional 36 hour fasts.

At the end of the day, getting rid of Visceral Fat is far, far more important than being concerned about the chemicals your body is dealing with in the elimination or shrinking of fat cells.

Good for you!

I look at carnivore as something you use to reset your health/habits. Long term I can't see it being good for you.....

Yep, as I have said, after 90 days, we are moving KETO, which I believe can be a sustained nutrition plan for years to come. Of course..... KETO with an occasional "cheat day".

If I find myself gaining 5-10 lbs down the road, I can always do a 30 day Carnivore to reset.

Always water fasting and usually water with base electrolytes. Regularly I do OMAD.... and am starting to try some 36 and 48 hour fasts only for the purpose of entering Autophagy.

I also grew up an athlete, spending a lot of time in the weight room. These days at 57 years old, I am not trying to obtain a body builder physique, but I want overall strength and strong/healthy joints I have my favorite lifts and those I do every three days. (I use to lift every other day, but after 50 years old, I started having issues with recovery and after moving to two days of recovery I do awesome.)

Two knee surgeries prevent me from high impact training, but I do like hard sprints on the elliptical.

Case in point.... my sister. She is touting a Carnivore diet, but this weekend, she showed a plate of food with a big ole T-bone steak and on the side were potato's and squash from her greenhouse. I just bite my tongue, because she thinks she is religious Carnivore. Ridiculous and I agree..... there's more people like that, than people that are truly striving for zero carb and all meat.

I know that a gram of carb has slipped by my efforts here and there, but I have been very strict. A big win for me is the fact that I have had zero forms of any sugar or alcohol... and this is my 16th day. I'm an addict to those two things.

This is the common excuse used by those who lack the discipline to carry out a plan, in this case a diet. If one stops eating carbs in their diet, such as noodles and bread and such, you will lose weight in the form of body fat. 100%. "We are all different" is BS.
Carnivore is a fad.
The name is yes, but it is just a way diet that gets your body into ketosis.

Yesterday..... no other word than HELL. It was a mental breakdown.

You see, I have a four day work-week and Thursday is my Friday. I've had this job for the past four years and my MO was to get off work on Thursday with a big ole smile on my face and great anticipation!!!! I would rush home and the very first thing I would do is pour myself a Bourbon and Coke. Five to six glasses later, I was the life of the party.

To make it worse yesterday, I had to leave work early to meet a contractor at my house. By 2pm, just hanging around the house, waiting for the contractors work to finish, I was truly having a mental breakdown and twice I walked into the pantry, looked at the 1.75 of Evan Williams Whisky and nearly grabbed it and a can of Coke. (Yes, those two things are still in my house. I did not throw them away like I did the cookies, bags of chips and candy.)

My first effort to resist was to cut myself a piece of smoked Gouda Cheese and begin nibbling on it. When that did nothing for me, I opened the container of Pork Skins and started eating. Still.... no relief. I walked back in the pantry and stared at ole Evan.....

The good news.... I successfully resisted. Ended up grilling a hamburger patty with bacon and cheese for dinner and went to bed early, sipping on a bottle of Topo Chico Sparkling Water.

I'll say it out loud..... There is nothing fun about Carnivore. It is punishment. Yesterday I wanted fun.... and I wanted the fun that comes in a bottle.

This morning I feel like I won. I over-came. And.... I don't have a debilitating hangover this morning.

It's fair to call Carnivore a Fad. It is just gaining steam the last 2-3 years and the jury is out if it will stick or not.

Naysayers are far, far too late with me. I have my own body as a testament. Forget the whole "loosing weight" aspect. My blood sugar is way down and completely stable. My blood pressure, for the past 3-4 years has been in the 170's/110's. Within 10 days it dropped significantly and I am steady in the high 120's/80's. ZERO MEDICATION. Body feels absolutely fantastic and joints aren't aching or hurting anymore. My skin is much more supple and the wife says I look 10-15 years younger. Dark circles around my eyes are gone. Finger and toe nails look much better and healthy. I am loaded with energy when I wake up in the morning, even if it is at 4am.

My only continuing struggle is my addiction to sugar and liquor, but this is Day#15 with zero sugar (or carbs for that matter) and zero alcohol.

Low Carb is the bane of the Pharma/Medical Industry. It is vastly against the interests of their shareholders for the public to be healthy. Look at the money behind most of the research studies behind "discrediting low-carb" and you will find a 100 Billion Dollar Pharma Company.

But hey, who am I to push the facts of my body on someone else. (Facts, not opinion or belief.) If you are happy, keep up your lifestyle, but you aren't changing my mind. You are WAY TOO LATE.

I can say I agree with you 100%.
Education on how Nutrition Works in the body is the best approach to losing weight. And of course exercise.
All diets that are extrem in nature have consequences.

Thats what I do and lost over 87 pounds back in 2010 and still have kept it off....Atkins worked for me...Today is my cheat day and had 3 donuts with a tall glass of milk....I have a cheat day once a week...

First 4 weeks are tough, your body will adjust to using fats.

I am out of the camp on diabetes sugar/saturated fat blah blah, it all comes down to not overeating.

If your dropping weight then you aren't overeating, and on the path of being healthier. Do your blood work and if everything is green then keep doing what works for you.

Dropping weight isn't the hard part it's keeping it off. I am using keto as a tool personally to drop weight and reverse diet back to a normal clean diet .

Yep living here in California have seen all of these diets and yes they work for different individuals with different circumstances.

I find that at 67 almost 68 I am having a intolerance to Too Much bread pasta rice Donuts all of those items I have pretty much eliminated from my diet outside of the occasional treat of an English muffin.

I eat a lot of greens and good proteins meaning lean meats and lean poultry and fish. I also like the different types of beans but in moderation.

I find that this particular eating habit with my cycling and walking sustains me at 178 with a lean body mass. Isometrics and some weights also help build and keep muscle attached to the Bone. Anyway just my two cents here.

Your killing me..... A simple glazed donut is a HUGE Achilles Heel of mine. I can eat a bakers dozen at one sitting. At least I could when I was 25 years old. Now at 57 years old, the intolerances are stacking up and I hate the way I feel when I eat something I react to. I can eat one, maybe two donuts now and I am fine..... 6 make we sick.

I just turned 70 and have no problem eating them... I also will get some Blue Bell ice cream usually a pint and have that also on a cheat day.....On the other days I watch my carbs...avoid bad ones and drink plenty of water...

My buddy does true carnivore; at home all he eats is 2.5lbs of ribeye every day. Every bite of fat, gristle, everything. When he started this he dropped almost 90lbs over the first year. He’s now maintaining at about 165 on a 5’10” frame.

I could probably do full carnivore but my wallet won’t allow, so I went with an almost no-carb approach along with intermittent fasting of about 20 hours per day. I cut out all potatoes, pop, and other sugary foods. Since January of last year I’m down 88lbs and I haven’t given up my occasional dessert and somewhat more frequent enjoyment of craft beers. I’m still managing about 6-7lbs loss every month; I know I can hit 10+ but then I’m a grouchy B cuz of cutting out the small amount of enjoyables I allow myself.

Meanwhile, my wife insists on not giving up her potatoes and other carb sources and seems she manages to find 1 out of every 5lbs I lose. She doesn’t believe me that after about a week of not having those sugars & carbs that you’ll lose that craving for them. Sad. Maybe someday she’ll get over her irrational fear of admitting I was right! 🤐

I’ve been doing low carb for while. Since having the plague I lost almost 12lbs and I always drink tons of water. I do enjoy my tofu and salads and greens.

Elimination will be an effort for the wife and I as we depart the 90 days of Carnivore. We will introduce things one at a time to see what we react to and what we do well with....

Learn to make real sourdough with organic flours. Salt. Water. Maybe some good olive oil. That’s it. If I am active I can eat my own bread in reasonable quantities and not gain weight
