I'm sure someone here has bought a Carhartt jacket not too long ago; I've been reading Amazon reviews and many people claim Carharrt runs a bit big. Has anyone found that to be true? I usually wear XL. Looking at buying either the J130 or J140 jacket.

Thanks!

I would do my best to find a place that stocks them in store and check them out. I'm 6'2 202 pounds and my shoulders are normal for my size.

Anything less then 2XL felt like I was going to rip the seems. It might have just been a bad measurement but the shoulder length was pretty small when I went to buy one.

I found some off brand Wolverine jackets just the same style right next to them. Bought a large and I still have it.

Sorry this is kind run on just try them on in person. If your anything like me you will need multiple sizes larger for the correct shoulder room.

They are cut to allow clothes under the jacket for cool weather construction or outdoor work. You can usually fit a jacket underneath the Carhartt at the same size.

Colorado Springs? Depends on how much work outside you do, how much wind you have to put up with, and how you normally dress when you do, but I would suspect you want a Jacket that fits rather than one that goes over another jacket which is what you want when the temps are cold (0F and below).

Remember you can always dress warmer (put a vest over your jacket, add various kinds of warm underwear, etc) but you don't want to be sweating when you are going about ordinary daily tasks.

Check out a Sears, they have them there. If the pricing is cheaper online buy it there. I ended up getting my duck jacket at Sears, it was a lot cheaper when I factored in my reward points and all the stupid coupons I happened to save from buying something else.

They're big in the shoulders but not tall. I get a breeze around the waistline.
