Just did an oil change on an older Jeep Grand Cherokee with 336,000km on it's 4.0L engine running a Baldwin B2.The owner told me he was using CDQ oil additive to quiet up lifter noise. When I cut open his oil filter it was full of a very fine black, sandy substance. The stuff would break down in your hand when it was mashed and swirled around in your palm to a black smear. He told me it must be the additive clearing up carbon in the engine...any thoughts?Thank goodness the filter was an oversize for this engine due to the fact it (black sand) was in every pleat and built up on both end caps "big time".We are going to change the filter again in about 4000km (2800 miles) then do a complete oil & filter change in about 7000km (4800 miles).
