Carbon Deposits

Does anyone know or recommend a fuel additive that cleans carbon deposits from the piston/combustion chamber?

I’ve had better luck with a couple treatments of the B-12 Chemtool “Total Combustion System Cleaning Kit” then I have with many, many in-tank treatments. I’ve almost decided that the in-tank cleaners can’t really clean combustion chamber deposits with any efficiency. I think they do well on valves and injectors, where the cleaner is in more direct contact with the deposits. It’s hard to imagine how the in-tank cleaners, in the small dosages that are used, can really attack combustion chamber deposits.

And, no, I don’t have any affiliation with B-12.

I still haven’t tried water. I broke an engine with water sometime in the early 80’s. I have not had the nerve to try it again.

The Italian Tune-up.

I saw that B-12 Chemtool “Total Combustion System Cleaning Kit” on the closeout table of AdvanceAuto Parts a few weeks back.

I was wonderring how good this stuff works ?

I've had good results with Seafoam sucking through a vacuum line.

I did the seafoam throught the brake line. Ok, But i feel the deep creep spraying into and throught the TB is the best.

Valvoline synpower fuel system cleaner is pretty good. You can also try the maxlife fuel system cleaner, its identical to the synpower and half the price.
