Car wreck, lowball offer.

Cheapo insurance companies typically don't want to pay for paint blending into other panels, and all the labor that entails because when you blend into a door, you need to take off the door panel, any trim moldings, the belt molding, the weather stripping, etc.

I was not asking you. I thought it would be self evident in the fact that I was asking for specifics.

SO do you know the specifics like I asked or are you just spitballing opinion?
My dad did body work for 30 years, and my family owned a body shop from 1959-2005. I spent a lot of time with my dad in the shop working on cars, and learning about the process.

what specifically is it that they are not paying for that constitutes low balling?
Not paying what the estimator said would cover the repair. The first offer from insurance was $1100. Second was just over $3000 and that’s still not enough.

Over $3k for that repair sounds way high. My 2015 Jeep had similar damage and it was under $2500 and that included a $500 wheel and an alignment. Did you see what's under the bumper?

Yup, which is why I asked what specifically... a question I note we don't seem to want to answer.

Bet the thread title would be completely different if the situation were reversed. "Shop tries to overcharge for repairs".

At this point all I know is trim removal, rear quarter window removal, popping out the rear quarter, REPAIRING bumper, blending bumper upper and lower quarter, blending rear door, blending rocker panel. That's as specific as I can be.

Update. Apparently the Jetta is ahead of schedule and should be ready to pick up tomorrow. My estimator originally said it may be ready today, then said once she looked at the paint work there were some dirt nibs that had to be dealt with before it would be ready. That's not confidence inspiring, though I know it happens. Hope to pick it up tomorrow.

MY insight, I had damage at Walmart, lady admitted liability, I WORKED with her insurance on recommended repair shops AND gt them to pay for a rental car. SHOP needed more $$ once they started the work the insurance paid up.

It seems the body shop quality checking their work would inspire a little confidence.

He traded it in for a new Jetta. Instead of blue, it's gray with alloy wheels. Click his username, then new threads created by user to see it.
